Ontario Streams is engaging classrooms and community groups with their local habitats. Our educational programs will highlight local Species At Risk, their sensitive habitats, and how we can ALL make a difference.

Atlantic Salmon Stocking

Atlantic Salmon, once abundant in Lake Ontario tributaries, have been extirpated (locally extinct) from the Lake Ontario watershed since the late  1800’s. As a part of the Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Rehabilitation Program, Ontario Streams has tested egg incubation methods in the headwaters of the main Upper Humber River since 2008.

This program is powered by volunteers. We need help to install incubation tubes in February of each year, and release the grown Atlantic salmon fry in May.

Please contact outreach@ontariostreams.on.ca to learn more about this opportunity!
